Though Mr. Tony Lithur stands as an astute lawyer, his legal prowess has been called into question by the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, who claims Aseidu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC was the brain behind his ability to ask Dr. Bawumia questions in the witness box.

Ghanaians who were glued to their television sets saw Tony Lithur have the first shot to cross-examine Dr. Bawumia before the Supreme Court.

Although Tony Lithur has been lauded for doing a yeoman’s job in court, many in the New Patriotic Party believe the counsel for the first respondent (President John Dramani Mahama), Tony Lithur, had a tougher time dealing with Dr. Bawumia during the examination.

Citing an instance to buttress his claim, Mr. Kwadwo Afriyie hinted that at a point in time, Tony Lithur had to appeal to the nine panel judges to control the second petitioner in the witness box because he couldn’t stand him.

He continued that at that same instance the general secretary of the NDC had delayed in supplying Tony Lithur with questions and that got him confused.

Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also alleged that the entire questions put to Dr. Bawumia were “written and produced” by Mr. Johnson Aseidu Nketia.

“Anytime Tony Lithur wanted to ask Bawumia a question, he turned to Aseidu Nketia before he did so… It got to a point Tony Lithur’s face suddenly became red because Bawumia floored him. He vented his anger on his people; screaming ‘why have you made me disgrace myself? We were all in an air-conditioned room but he was sweating all over, particularly his bald head," claims Sir John.
