Accra, Feb 7, GNA - The Assembles of God Church in Ghana is to establish a University in her bid to promote sound education in the country.
For a start, the Church has decided to convert its Bible Training School in Kumasi for the university, which would open for the 2007-2008 academic year.
The Revered Moses Sumaila Assistant General Superintendent of the Church, who announced this at a meeting with the media in Accra on Tuesday said two other training intuitions of the Church in Tamale and Saltpond would serve as satellite campuses for the university, which would offer ICT and Business administration.
Rev Moses said the university would come to complement the church's street Children Academy at Agbogbloshie in Accra and the orphanage at Senya-Bereku in the Central Region.
In addition, he said, the Women's Ministry of the Church that had chalked 75 years in the country was also constructing a vocational school to cater for the needy in the Greater Accra Region. In another development, the Rev Minister cautioned the youth against any uncompromising behaviours during the Valentine Day activities.
He said, "Love does not hurt people but heals even the wounded" and asked the youth to use the occasion to show love in the context in which the Valentine Day was born. 07 Feb. 06
