Assembly members of Shai Osudoku equipped with 33 motorbikes

Daniel Akuffo, District Chief Executive for the Shai Osudoku District assembly on behalf of President Akuf0-Addo Monday, September 16, 2019, presented 33 motorbikes to Assembly members in the district to help address their transportation challenges.

According to the Assembly Chief, the bikes are to aid members of the local assembly discharge their work creditably.

22 Assembly members, 10 government appointees and the DCE of the Assembly took one motorbike each to enhance their work.

Presenting the motorbikes to the Assembly members at a short ceremony at the forecourts of the Shai Osudoku District assembly at Dodowa, the DCE said the bikes will go a long way in augmenting the transportation requirements of the assembly members who committed lots of personal resources into commuting to assembly meetings and other official engagements from distant and remote areas of the district.

The procurement of the bikes, championed by the President, Nana Akuffo Addo through the local government ministry is expected to adequately resource them in the delivery of their responsibilities to their electorates.

The Assembly Chief meanwhile charged the beneficiaries to exhibit good maintenance culture for the bikes to ensure that they serve the purpose for their acquisition.

Asked what the assembly is doing to repair the bad road network in the district, Mr. Akuffo noted that the ministry of roads was undertaking the construction of several kilometers of roads in the district to improve road transportation.

Receiving the motorbikes on behalf of the assembly members, Presiding Member (PM) of the Shai Osudoku District Assembly, Mr. Jonathan Kwabla commended the government for its generosity and urged the members to use the bikes for its intended purpose.

The Presiding Member who thanked the government and the DCE on behalf of his colleagues for honouring their promise, added that the gesture had not only touched the hearts of Assembly members alone but also everyone in the constituency.

Mr. Kwabla who asserted that the bikes will be used for the development of the people said the challenges Assembly members go through in attending Assembly sittings had now been curtailed by the kind gesture.

He expressed gratitude to the DCE for his commitment to help develop the district, saying the motorbikes would now make it easier for Assembly members to attend meetings on time and also monitor activities in their Electoral Areas.

He added that such a personal effort by the MP would help to complement the efforts of the Assembly and the government in developing the district.

The Presiding Member, however, appealed for exgratia for assembly members after their terms of office.
