The Adansi South District Assembly has inaugurated a 3-unit police quarters at Sikaman in the Adansi South District.
A police station constructed earlier through the collaboration of the assembly, the Member of Parliament, Mr. K. Appiah-Pinkrah and the community, has been unused due to the lack of a living quarters for the personnel.
Inaugurating the GH¢73,000 quarters, Mr. Benjamin Anhwere, the District Chief Executive announced that the assembly had completed 91 projects in the district within three years and called on the people to support the government.
He said: “NDC government does not toy with issues bothering on security, that is why the assembly has completed this project to ensure the idle station becomes operational to enhance security in this area”.
The District Chief Executive said the assembly would complete minor rehabilitation works at the station to give comfort to the men and announced that the Kwadwo Nkwanta-Nkoranza-Amankyem and Nkoranza-Mpirekyere-Ataase roads had been earmarked for rehabilitation to improve the transport of goods and services in the area.
Mr. K. Dwumfour-Berkyi, the Obuasi Divisional Police commander, commended the assembly for its commitment to addressing security matters in the area.
He stressed that: “once the facility has been taken over by the Police Administration, there would be no favoritism in the discharge of our duties’ and called for the co-operation and support of the community, warning that: “we are not going to compromise acts that will affect the security in the area”.
