Mr Francis Kwabena Ampadu, Assemblyman for Old Tafo Ahenbronum in Kumasi, has called for support to develop the area that had lagged behind due to a protracted chieftaincy dispute.

He said with the installation of a new chief at Old Tafo there was the need for all to assist to develop the area. Speaking at a harvest for the development of the area on Sunday, Mr Ampadu paid tribute to his predecessors for their contribution during the difficult years when Old Tafo had no chief and unit committee.

He said the area had a lot of problems that included the tarring of the main street at Ahenbronum, lack of toilet facilities, parking lots, poor drainage and the provision of adequate telephone booths.

Mr Ampadu said the tarring of the main street at Ahenbronum was in the pipeline and said there was the need for the people to support the construction of drainage.

He told the people that neighbourhood watch committee would be formed to assist the police to check current spate of robberies at the Tafo market and other parts of the town and said the traders would be taxed to pay those who will keep watch at the market.

Nana Agyen Frimpong, Tafohene, appealed to his people to co-operate with the assemblyman and unit committees to ensure the speedy development of Tafo.
