Mrs Selina Avevor, Assemblywoman for Kutunse Electoral Area in the Ga West District of Greater Accra Region, has organised health screening exercise for her constituents.
The exercise, which was supported by the Rotary Club, included the screening of 968 people for diabetes, tuberculosis, high blood pressure, HIV tests and counseling and immunisation for children under five years.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra, Mrs Avevor said she has also organised a family planning session for the people during, which contraceptives were distributed as well as a hand washing with soap campaign.
Touching on the development of the electoral area she said she intends to lobby Nii Laryea, Member of Parliament for Amasaman to provide electricity to the communities without the amenity.
Mrs Avevor said her priority includes the improvement of the Satellite Junction- Bevac Road, which is in a bad shape and gets flooded anytime it rains due to lack of drains.
She said through the support of the assembly, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders she wants to establish day care, recreational and community centres, which must include ICT and library facilities.
“There is also the urgent need for a medical facility to free the people from the ordeal of seeking treatment at Nsawam, Amasaman and Ridge Hospital.”
