Mrs. Pricilla Arthur an executive member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region has urged members and well-wishers of the party to close their ranks and propagate the Better Ghana Agenda to woo more people to join the party.
Mrs. Arthur made the call when she swore in new executives for the Assin Central Constituency of the party, who were voted into office by 247 delegates from 60 polling stations at a conference held at Assin Fosu.
The election was conducted by officials from the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Assin North District led by the District Officer, Mr. Kenneth Opoku, and observed by the Central Regional Executives of the party.
Mr. Peter Affum, a 49 year old business man was elected Chairman. He polled 127 votes out of the valid votes cast to beat two other contestants Mr. Baba Gariba, who polled 76 and Mr. Awulley Addico, who also obtained 41.
Other executives elected were Mr. Rockson Ansah as Vice Chairman who polled 119, Mr. James Agbolosu, Secretary, had 77, Mr. Sadique Yeboah, Deputy Secretary, 190, Mr. Price Obeng, Organizer, 149, Mr. Samuel Coffie, Deputy Organizer, 149 votes and Mr. Vincent Asare, Youth Organizer, polled 38.
The rest were Mr. Vincent Asare, Deputy Youth Organizer who polled 32, Mr. Ernest Boadi, Deputy Organizer had 38 votes, Ms. Agatha Yawson, Women’s Organizer, 28 votes, and Mrs. Abena Ansah, Deputy Women’s Organizer obtained 27.
Other were Mr. Twumasi Ankrah, Treasurer who polled 108, Seidu Adams Deputy Treasurer had 132 votes, Mr. Gordon Osei Owusu, Propaganda Secretary obtained 96 votes, and Mr. Stephen Yeboah, Deputy Propaganda Secretary polled 93.
Eighty other executive members were also elected as required by the constitution of the party.
Mrs. Arthur advised the executives to work as a team in accordance with the party’s rules and regulations towards the party’s victory in the 2016 general elections.
Dr. Kofi Blankson, Assin North Municipal Chief Executive, Congratulated the delegates for comporting themselves, which led to a peaceful and successful conference; and urged them to start campaigning vigorously for the party’s victory in both the parliamentary and presidential elections.
Mr. Affum, the Chairman-elect, thanked the delegates for given them the mandate and assured that the new executives will collectively work with the delegates to ensure victory of the party in 2016.
