Association expresses sympathy to poisoned-students

Wa, Feb. 16, GNA - Members of the Domestic Bursars and Matrons Association of the Upper West Region, have expressed their sympathy to students, teachers and the headmistress of the Archbishop Porter Girls Senior High School at Fijai near Sekondi for their recent case of student's food poisoning.

The Association said the incident sent shock and panic to all parents in the country, especially considering the number of students that were involved in the alleged poisoning.

A statement issued in Wa and signed by Madam Barichisu Salifu, President of the Association said the members also expressed their support to the entire staff and matron of the school saying: "We appreciate the weight of the trauma the staff and the students are experiencing". The Association members, however, said they were unhappy about the conflicting media reports on the incident, pointing out that the wrong stories, which were put out in the public domain could have affected some parents.

The Association, therefore, urged parents to exercise patience and self-control in the matter and described the incident as an unfortunate one. They also called for sober reflection to find a lasting solution against any future incident and to stop the blame game syndrome. "We want to sympathize with our colleague members in the Western Region particularly the matron of the Archbishop Porter's Girls Senior High School and encourage her to take heart and face the realities as they emerge," the Association members advised.
