Asueyi (B/A), - 16 June Asueyi citizens resident in Techiman are contributing 5,000 cedis a man and 3,000 cedis a woman towards the construction of a day-care centre estimated at eleven million cedis at Asueyi. Mr Francis K. Antwi-Boasiako, assembly member for the area, disclosed this at a general meeting of the "Asueyi Mma Nkabomu Kuo" (benevolent society of Asueyi) at Asueyi in the Techiman district yesterday. The meeting was to rekindle communal spirit among the people and discuss the need for a new settlement for the town. Mr Antwi-Boasiako said it is the policy of the government to help communities that initiate their own projects and stressed the need for all Asueyi citizens to contribute their quota towards the town's development. He disclosed that the area would soon benefit from the government's self-help electrification programme (SHEP) and appealed to the people to pay their levies promptly to enable the projects to be completed on schedule. Nana Kwasi Kromo, the odikro of the area, called on all citizens both at home and abroad to be selfless and contribute to the development of the area. Mr Jacob Sumsum, vice-chairman of the Techiman branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union presided.
