Ato Forson's Acquittal: Stop the nonsense! - NPP Youth Organizer berates NDC

Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, has called out what he terms the "hypocrisy" of the opposition National Democratic Congress regarding their behavior towards the Judiciary.

Contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, the NPP National Youth Organizer took a swipe at the opposition party following their excitement over the acquittal of their Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson.

"The NDC, all of a sudden, have found value in our judicial system. The same judicial system that they attacked, dragged, labelled, vilified, and insulted to the point that they made the Judiciary lose its savor just because of their own parochial interest," he stated.

He reminded the NDC that "all the 3 Justices on the panel were appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, but there was a 2:1 majority decision," stressing, "I haven't heard the NDC calling them the unprintable and unsavory names they pour on the Judiciary whenever they lose in another case."

Salam warned the NDC over their double standards, saying, "Everything cannot be at the whims and caprices of the NDC... It's becoming annoying, and we have encouraged this for too long... and a stop must be put to this nonsense of the NDC."

Background

An Accra Court of Appeal has acquitted Ato Forson, who was accused by the Attorney-General of financial malfeasance resulting from the purchase of some ambulances for Ghana.

The two, Ato Forson and Jakpa, were said to have caused the State a financial loss of €2.37 million and were arraigned before an Accra High Court.

The Minority Leader filed for a no-case submission, which was turned down by the High Court, but in the Appeal’s Court, led by Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackah-Boafo and Justice Philip Bright Mensah, he won his case by a 2:1 majority ruling, with Justice Alex Poku Acheampong dissenting.

The Court of Appeal ruled that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case for the Minority Leader to answer.
