The Central Regional Executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) have expressed their misgivings about the events at the Accra High Court concerning the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson’s ambulance trial.

Addressing the media on Friday, the Regional Chairman of the party, Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu promised, on behalf of his executives, to storm the Accra High Court on the next adjourned date to protect Ato Forson and his image.

“We can’t sit idle for the state deals with our illustrious son, Dr. Ato Forson anyhow. We want to say that Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has supporters and followers, and he belongs to a party and is from a great region, so we can’t sit down idly for a state to deal with him anyhow. So we are sending these signals to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame that let’s wait and let the law take its course, but if somebody tries to undermine the system to suit his whims and caprices, that will not succeed,” he warned.

Prof Kofi Asiedu added, “In fact since this case started, the Central Regional NDC has been keenly following proceedings, only to hear that during the cross-examination, the third accused in the ambulance purchase trial, Richard Jakpa has boldly come out to say that the Minister for Anthony General and Justice has been calling him to make some confessions against Ato Forson the Minority Leader and that will help his agenda in a way to jail Ato Forson.”

“This is quite a worrying situation, especially when it came out from the court. So as NDC members in the Central Region we are worried for our son, our leader of the Minority Caucus in Parliament,” he lamented.

The NDC leader called on traditional rulers, opinion leaders, party foot soldiers, and sympathizers who have the Minority Leader at heart to follow this ambulance trial case keenly and stand solidly behind him from being jailed.

“We can’t sit here and allow the judges to make a case out of this. The way things are moving, we will not sit down for such a situation to happen and affect our industry son who has done so much for himself, the Central Region and the party as well.”
