The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his commitment to implementing his policies if elected president of Ghana in the upcoming elections.
He pointed out that the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, who was the former vice president under Jerry John Rawlings, successfully implemented his policies when he became president.
Dr. Bawumia illuminated the different roles of a vice president and a president, highlighting that a president's initiatives take precedence.
During a discussion with Africawatch Magazine, Dr Bawumia expressed his intention to implement his policies for the benefit of the nation if he is elected president.
He also noted that the current conditions under President Akufo-Addo's leadership should not be used as the sole basis for evaluating his potential.
"Being loyal to a president and having your own vision are not mutually exclusive. Atta Mills was vice president to Rawlings, but was his own man as president," GhOne TV reported on their X page, as seen by GhanaWeb.
Dr. Bawumia is gearing up to compete against John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and other candidates in the upcoming presidential elections.
The general elections are scheduled for December 7, 2024.
