Attempt To Implicate Ben Ephson’s Son Exposed

An attempt by an official of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Mr. Michael Anyamesem to implicate the son of the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Mr. Ben Ephson regarding allegations of obscenity has been exposed on Joy fm.

Six months ago, Mr. Anyamesem made a complaint at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), alleging that the editor’s son, Jude, had put nude photographs of his daughter, Betty, on the internet. In order to get the telephone records of both parties (Jude and Betty), the police in early May this year, charged Jude with obscenity to enable them (the police) get court orders to access their telephone records to assist them in their investigations.

The case has been on-going for the past six months but on Wednesday this week, Mr. Anyamesem told Joy fm that Mr. Ephson was trying to influence the case.

In an interview with Mr. Ben Ephson, he said “God moves in mysterious ways. That man has realized that the lies his daughter told him are being exposed and he has now resorted to trying the case in the media. Me, trying to influence the case? The case has been on for six months and my son’s innocence is being proven so why should I influence the case? Those who are aware of the case will tell you that in the early stages, my son spent two nights in police remand before Egbert got bail for him.”

Mr. Ephson added, “There are going to be interesting developments in this case. For example, it will be interesting to find out why Betty gave a different telephone number to the police towards investigating their phone records. Why did she not use the usual number she had been using to communicate with Jude?”

On Mr. Anyamesem, Mr. Ephson explained that it was rather the BoG official, who had been trying to influence the case citing that “on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, Mr. Anyamesem and a high ranking official from the Attorney General’s Department (name withheld for now) who is now working on this case, between 12:30pm-12:55pm, visited the offices of the head of Greater Accra, DOVVSU, DSP Owusuwaa Kyeremeh at her office.

When I confronted the DSP, she replied that her office was a public one. Interesting times ahead.”
