The Ministry of Justice and Attorney-General's official website has reportedly been hacked by a group which describes itself as citizens of Argentina with special skills.

The group says its action is as a result of government's refusal to release an Argentine Navy ship-the Frigate Libertad it impounded a few months ago. In view of that, the hackers have warned to unleash "hell" on the nation by attacking some government websites, banks, stock exchanges and some mining companies operating in the country.

"This is a warning. If you (referring to Ghana) refuse to release our Libertad Frigate in three days, we will unleash hell on you. We will attack all your government websites, all your banks, your stock exchange, all your gold and oil companies," the hackers said in a statement displayed on the hacked site of the Justice Ministry.

Ghana prevented an Argentine Naval ship from leaving its shores a few months ago after a local court ruled in favour of a financial fund backed by an American billionaire.

The fund says it is owed $370m (£233m) by the Argentine government as a result of its debt default a decade ago.

It is seeking $20m in return for the release of the ship, a three-masted training vessel.

Consequently, the Argentina government took the matter to United Nations court and argued that the seizure violates maritime law.

Below is unedited statement displayed on the hacked website of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General.
