Foase (Ash), March 16, GNA - The 35-member Atwima-Kwanwoma District Assembly has been inaugurated at Foase amidst fanfare. Chiefs, political party representatives, heads of departments and the clergy were among the large gathering that watched the ceremony. The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Joseph Anane, who inducted the members into office, reminded them that their election showed the confidence people in their communities have in them and said they must, therefore, live up to expectation. They should work hard and with commitment to make life better for people they were representing.

He said it was also important they put the general good of the society ahead of individual selfish agenda. The Deputy Minister warned that members who abuse their positions for personal gains would be sanctioned. They should, therefore, distance themselves from corrupt practices and other acts that could bring them into confrontation with the law.

Mr Anthony Nyame Agyemang, the District Chief Executive, paid tribute to the immediate past assembly members for working under difficult conditions to lay a solid socio-economic foundation for the district, which was carved out of the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma not quite long ago. He said he was confident that the newly inducted members would continue from where their predecessors left off. He advised them to avoid division and pool their resources to improve the living conditions of the people.
