Foase (Ash), May 9, GNA - Mr Michael Oppong-Kyekyeku, the President's nominee for the post of District Chief Executive for the new Atwiama-Kwanwoma District failed to get the nod of the assembly on Friday. The 53-year-old former employee of the National School Feeding Programme in Accra polled 14 out of 30 votes and therefore failed to win the two-thirds majority votes required. Mr. Oppong-Kyekyeku in an earlier election held 10 days ago, also failed to get the required two-thirds majority when he polled 15 out of the 30 votes cast. After the election the government dismissed three assembly members, Mr Yaw Yeboah, Mr Emmanuel Agyei and Nana K. Amponsah and replaced them with Nana Amoako Gyampa, Mr Kwame Appiah and Mr Kwaku Sampene. Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister later addressing the Assembly urged them to unite to ensure the development of the district.
