Tarkwa, Nov. 3, GNA - A 52 year old internal auditor of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Audit Service has reportedly committed suicide in his home.
The deceased, Dickson Oeyettey Crabbe, was found hanging in his living room with a nylon rope around his neck on October 25, at 1500 hours.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency in an interview, on Wednesday, at Tarkwa, Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah said the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Charity Crabbe, reported the incident to the Police, who conveyed the corpse to the hospital.
Inspector Amponsah said Mrs. Crabbe allegedly left home at around 1130 hours on that fateful day and returned home at about 1500 hours only to find all doors to their number four railway quarters house locked with the deceased hanging from a curtain rail.
The deceased was said to have been suffering from a stroke attack for about two years now and was living together with his wife and four daughters.
Inspector Amponsah said there was no suicide note and the corpse has been deposited at the Tarkwa Government Hospital for autopsy while Police investigations continue.
This is the second alleged suicide incident in three months in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality with the first one involving another civil servant who reportedly killed himself on September 24. It would be recalled that Mr. Justice E. Omar, 46, the Works Engineer of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly was found hanging on his veranda at around 0530 hours at his Governor Hill residence at Tarkwa, on September 24, this year. The body was found by his wife and neighbours and has been deposited at the Tarkwa Government Hospital Morgue awaiting autopsy, a Police source disclosed. He lived in the same house with his wife and five children.
