Winneba (C/R), Sept 30, GNA - Workers of District, Municipal and Metropolitan Health Insurance Schemes have been advised to consider auditors as partners in development and not to regard them as enemies. He said auditors were expected to assist the workers to find better and lasting solutions to their financial, administrative and operational challenges.

Dr Gustav G.L. Cruickshank, Chief International Auditor of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), gave the advice when he met officers of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya area branch of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)m at Winneba. He asked workers, particularly those in management positions, to discard the notion that auditing was about witch-hunting, fault finding and intimidation. Dr Cruickshank said that periodic auditing of activities of the workers would help in checking lapses in the systems and improve efficiency.

He said he had interacted with officers of schemes in parts of the country, and asked them to cooperate with auditors to ensure the success of the national health delivery policy. Dr Cruickshank asked NHIA officials to comply with laws and regulations governing the scheme. He asked NHIA employees to be hard working and eschew indiscipline. Mr Josiah Doam Kittoe (Jnr), Manager of Awutu-Effutu-Senya Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, said that the workers would work harder to ensure higher productivity.
