Sekondi, June 25, GNA - Mr. William B. Williams, the Australian High Commissioner in Ghana, said the economic, natural and social resources of the Western Region were enormous. He said this called for massive collaboration to see where both countries could benefit and improve their bilateral trade relations. Mr. Williams said this when he paid a courtesy call on Mr. Anthony E. Amoah, Western Regional Minister. He said the High Commission had assisted the Rural Aid Alliance Foundation at New Takoradi to purchase 16 sanitary containers to be placed at vantage points. Additionally, the Axim Girls Senior High School and Axim Women's Vocational Training Centre had benefited from the mission. The mission had also assisted the Asemapaneye community in the Jomoro District to improve its water system through the Direct Aid Programme (DAP) of the embassy. Mr. Amoah said the region abounds in raw materials and needs massive investments to transform the untapped resources. He said the tourism industry which is not very well developed could be transformed and made more attractive. Mr. Amoah appealed to Mr Williams to bring in more Australian businessmen to the region and suggested a twining project to link up communities in Ghana with Australian to facilitate economic cooperation.
