Accra, Jan.27, GNA- A 457-page book on the autobiography of Dr Emmanuel Evans-Anfom, a former Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was launched in Accra on Tuesday. Professor Adzei Bekoe, member of the Council of State speaking at the launch said such functions were rare in Ghana because Ghanaians lacked interest in reading.
He said it was vital for the nation to put on record certain trends and achievements and commended Dr Evans-Anfom for the courage he took to write and launch the book " To the Thirsty Land" autobiography of a patriot.
Dr Evans-Anfom 84, the author said about two years ago he went into memory lane and decided to tell the story of his life . He said the title was chosen because Ghana was a thirsty land as many of her sons and daughters who drank the living water from birth had left the shores and were wasting their time and energy on lands that were not thirsty.
"If Ghana is to be built, it should be built by Ghanaians. We build Ghana as Ghanaians in Ghana". A copy of the book published by the African Christian Press sells for 200, 000 cedis, the first copy was auctioned for 15 million cedis and was purchased by children of the author.
