Avea Nsoh inciting students, staff against management of UEW – Prof Afful Broni

Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Rev. Prof. Anthony Afful Broni, is accusing the Principal of the University’s College of Languages at Ajumako, Prof Ephraim Avea Nsoh of encouraging students and members of staff to rebel against management of the school.

According to him, Prof Avea Nsoh epitomizes the presence of "abundant air of academic freedom" which is blowing across the University of Education.

He told Journalists at a press conference in Winneba that since the assumption of office, Prof Avea Nsoh has shown clear dislike for the management team of the university especially to him the acting Vice Chancellor, who was directed by the Winneba High Court and the governing council of the university to take over from the former Pro-Vice Chancellor.

“Prof Avea Nsoh has openly asked his staff and faculty members to resist this administration. He has had held meetings with students at which members of staff were present, urged and incited students to rebel against the University administration. He has determined to bring chaos to the University thank God he has failed,” Prof. Afful Broni said.

He added that Prof Avea Nsoh "gave an open space presentation on the UEW case which was pending in court, a move that was contemptuous of court and could have had dire consequences for him and this university should it have been pursued by the plaintiff”.

Prof. Afful Broni further stated that despite all these, Prof Avea Nsoh was still at post as the Principal of the College of Languages at the Ajumako campus and has never been victimized, intimidated or dismissed.

“Is this an example of a culture of silence which Amnesty International is seeking to unjustifiably project?” he quizzed.

Prof Afful Broni admonished members of the university community to exercise their rights to free speech and academic freedom with decorum, dedication, honesty and truthfulness and within the ambit of all rules and regulations applicable for the smooth and effective management and administration of the university.
