Avoid breaching sanitation laws – Assembly

Madam Rita Odoley Sowah, the Municipal Chief Executive for La-Dadekotopon, has cautioned residents to desist from flouting sanitation laws.

She urged them to heed the call for good environmental cleanliness and hygiene, saying that, the assembly would deal with persons found flouting the laws.

Madam Odoley Sowah gave the warning when she embarked on a house-to-house sanitation sensitisation campaign in the area to help keep the surroundings clean.

She urged them to actively get involved in clean-up exercises during the National Sanitation Day to help rid the communities of filth and prevent diseases.

Madam Odoley Sowah asked the residents, especially food vendors, shop keepers and other business owners along the roads in the municipality to clear their immediate surroundings and the drains for the free flow of water and also curb other sanitation threats.

The MCE in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said the assembly had embarked on a 90-day rapid response initiative from July to September this year to clear the areas of filth.

“This is in an attempt to address most of the environmental challenges in the municipality, which would go a long way in reducing sanitation related sicknesses,” she said.

“We will also not relent in sensitizing the people regularly to be environmentally conscious to help fight the sanitation problem.”

Madam Odoley Sowah said access roads in the municipality would be closed from 0600 hours to 1000 hours in the next sanitation day exercise.

The MCE was accompanied by Mr Emmanuel Sony Aloleve, the Municipal Sanitation Officer.
