Kwesimintsim (W/R), Sept. 27, GNA - A women's leader has advised parents to avoid ostentatious lifestyles and rather invest their resources in the education of their children.

Mrs Hagar Intarmah, immediate past district secretary of the Women's Fellowship of the Methodist Church noted that greed and the desire by parents to be like others of good standing in the society, has often resulted in the neglect of many children.

She was speaking at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Freeman Methodist Church at Kwesimintsim in Takoradi on Sunday. The theme for the celebration was "Focus on the Child; The Role of the Christian Mother".

Mrs Intarmah regretted that very often many women maltreat especially stepchildren staying with them, "just because they are not theirs". She reminded that children emulate the lifestyles of parents and this should motivate the elderly to lead lives that could help mould children to become responsible adults.

Mrs. Intarmah appealed to parents to spend more time with their children and not to think only of their businesses. The women's fellowship, later presented two trumpets valued at 1.9 million cedis to the church band.
