Ho, Aug 10, GNA - Mr Cletus Avorka, Minister of the Interior has
rubbished the recent anti-government demonstration, supposedly to draw
attention to the hard economic circumstances of Ghanaians, as a gimmick
that would not stand any logic. He was addressing a durbar of security personnel in Ho as part of his
two-day visit to institutions under his ministry in the Volta Region. Mr Avorka said going by the lamentations of former President John
Agyekum Kufuor that the four-year term was too short to make a big
impression on the problems of the country, being judgmental on the six
months of the current government was mischievous. He said the time of politics was over now and that Ghanaians must
face realities and work in unity to tackle to problems of the country. Mr Avorka who deviated from his main subject of welfare of the
security services said such gimmicks as demonstrated by the street action
erodes the confidence of the general public in politicians. He said there was no need to play to the gallery because it would be
taking the people for a ride, saying, between now and the next three and half years, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government would have a better story to tell Ghanaians.
