Awutu-Bontrase (C/R) Nov.2 GNA- The chiefs and People of Awutu- Bontrase in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District, on Monday appealed to District Assembly to liase with the Government to revive the stalled electrification project in the town.

Naachie Owudey II, Obaahema (Queen Mother) of the town and Mr.Daniel Asormaning, the Assembly member made the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Awutu-Bontrase.

They said the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Awutu-Senya, Madam Tetteh Kpoda had provided the community with 13.8 million cedis for the procurement of some electric poles.

They explained that although the contractor engaged for the project had installed a transformer, power could not be extended to the town without the acquisition of more poles.

They said the contractor had threatened to abandon the project if the poles were not made available.

Naachie Owudey and Mr. Asormaning said due to the widespread poverty in the area, the people were not in the position to contribute money for the purchase of the additional poles and appealed to the Government and public -spirited individuals and non-governmental organisations to come to their aid.

The District Chief Executive Captain Steve Kwamena Armah told the Mr. Isaac Botwe the District Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana asked the beneficiaries communities to seek technical support from the Company.
