Defeated flagbearer aspirant of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Hassan Ayariga is allegedly lobbying executives of the party to defect and join him in his bid to set up a new political party.
Sources in the party have confirmed to Starr News the 2012 flagbearer of the party is working closely with some regional executives of the party to convince their colleagues to resign.
He is reportedly luring his targets with cars, motorbikes and cash.
An executive who spoke to Starr News on condition of anonymity said “they came to my place at midnight with a brand new car to ask me to leave the PNC and join them. I know they just want me to endorse them that’s why they came with the car but I refused”.
Another revealed: “They came along with a form to request for our Voter ID numbers and signatures for the endorsement. They promised to bring us motor bikes for our constituency if we endorse the party. They said they would bring it after the party has been officially launched”.
Ayariga announced his resignation from the PNC following his defeat to Dr Edward Mahama in the party’s presidential primaries held at Wa in the Upper West region.
He accused some executives of the party of rigging the election in favor his opponent.
