Ayekoo to all mothers!

Sun, 11 May 2003 Source:

Today, Sunday, May 11 marks this year’s Mother’s Day. This day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of May to recognise the valuable role of mothers the world over.
Mother’s Day originated in ancient Greece in honour of Rhea, the mother of the gods.
As Christianity spread throughout Europe, the celebration changed to honour the “mother church”.
Over time people began honouring their mothers as well as the church. Mother’s Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate the lives of women who encouraged and inspired us.
This year we are urging Ghanaians to honour the special women in their lives for the contributions to their families, communities and workplaces.
