Ayensu (E/R), April 27, GNA - The Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has commended members of the Ayensu Presbyterian Church for contributing three million cedis to sponsor the senior secondary school (SSS) education of Master Moses Tetteh Narh, a brilliant but needy student of the Asesewa Agricultural Senior Secondary School (SSS).

He said if all communities in the country would show such level of concern for the education of brilliant but needy children amongst them, the country would have moved many steps ahead of time. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo was speaking at a fund-raising harvest organised by the Ayensu Anglican Church towards the rehabilitation of the Ayensu Anglican Primary and Junior Secondary School blocks on Friday. He pledged 500,000 cedis from his share of the Common Fund to supplement the efforts of the Presbyterian Church to enable Master Narh to pay for his examination fees and another 500,000 cedis to Moses Korle Tei, another student that the church and community were sponsoring at the Manya Krobo Secondary School.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo further made a personal donation of 200,000 cedis each to the two students to enable them to feed themselves during this year's SSS Certificate Examinations.

He also donated 30 bags of cement towards the rehabilitation of the Anglican Primary School and another 30 bags and 500,000 cedis to support the Ayensu community towards the provision of a borehole.

Mr. Francis Nyarku, Headteacher of the Ayensu Anglican School, reminded the Ayensu community that, currently, all government-sponsored schools were community-based and that the community was expected to contribute towards the development of the schools to supplement the efforts of Government.
