Ayikai-Doblo launches 400 million cedi development programme

Ayikai Doblo (G/A), Sept. 20, GNA - The people of Ayikai Doblo near Amasaman have launched a four-year development plan estimated at 400 million cedis.

Projects envisaged under the programme include the tapping of electric power from Amasaman to the town, the completion of a block of six classrooms, the construction of two additional boreholes and two places of convenience. Nii Ayikai, Chief of Ayikai Doblo, announced this when he launched the programme at a durbar at the weekend to round off the Homowo festivities of the chiefs and people.

He said the people through communal labour had rehabilitated an abandoned building, which was offered by him to be used as offices of the Ayikai Doblo Town Council at the cost of 120 million cedis. Mr Noah Armah, Assembly Member, commended the chief and people for their efforts in completing some projects. He said the new projects would be funded through communal labour with contributions of 40,000 cedis a male and 20,000 cedis a female, whilst male and female non-resident citizens would pay 100,000 cedis and 80,000 cedis each respectively.

Mr Armah appealed to the Ga West National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to come to the aid of the rainstorm victims whose property were destroyed in May, this year. He also appealed to the Department of Feeder Roads for the re-gravelling of the seven-kilometre feeder road from Amasaman to Ayikai Doblo to facilitate the carting of foodstuffs from the area to the urban centres.
