If anyone is to playback the voice of Justice Atuguba when he read out the final verdict, you are likely to hear him talk about Justice Dotse’s position that the petitioners’ case would serve as a road map to guide the nation during future elections.

However, a chief scribe of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, stunned Ghanaians when he emphatically stated in an interview with Okay FM that the electoral reforms are solely decided by political parties and the Electoral Commission; but not the court.

This position by Mr. Asiedu Nketia, drew the attention of a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice under the Kufuor administration, who wondered if the NDC scribe understood the word road map.

Mr. Ayikoi Otoo argues that so far as no one heard or saw the nine judges say that the petitioners case was “unmeritorious, frivolous or an abuse of the court process”, then it means some of them agree the concerns raised by the petitioners are genuine.

He posited that “it is bad” for Mr. Aseidu Nketia to claim that the petition wouldn’t bring about electoral reforms or serve as a road map to assist the nation in the near future.
