B/A NPP expels two members

Sunyani, Nov 22, GNA - The Brong Ahafo Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled two members from the party for defying the party's policy to file as independent parliamentary candidates after losing the constituency primary.

A statement signed by the Regional Secretary Mr. A.K. Kusi and copied to the National Campaign Manager, the General Secretary, the Nkoranza North Constituency Chairman, the Regional Minister and the press said Mr. Ben Osei Kufour a member of parliament and an independent parliamentary candidates for Asunafo North Constituency contested the primary with Mr. Robert Sarfo Mensah and lost, whilst Mr. Prince Ofosu Agyei an independent parliamentary candidate for Nkoranza North constituency failed to partake in a primary with three other contestants.

It said the policy of the party stated that the loser at a primary should team up with the winner to campaign for the party, adding that having overlooked the party policy and refused to pay heed to invitations to dialogue with the Regional secretariat and the Regional Minister, the two have been expelled from the party.

" Your actions showed gross disrespect for the party, which you claim to cherish and you have therefore, been expelled from the party," it said, adding that the two are warned to desist from using the name of the President or any member of the party hierarchy during elections.
