The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command has mounted a swoop, to flush out criminals and miscreants from the region.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, told Suncity Radio in an interview on Wednesday morning that 51 persons, aged between 17-65 years were rounded up from their bases at Nkrankwanta, Dormaa Ahenkro, Kyeremaasu, Wamfie, Berekum, Jema, Nkoranza and Techiman.
Items found on them included, knives, hinges, bar cutters, Tablets suspected to be Tramadol, wrapped leaves suspected to be India hemp, as well as substances suspected to be cocaine. The suspects have since been arranged before the court and remanded in Police custody.
Chief Inspector Oppong reiterated the resolve of the Police to clamp down on the activities of suspected criminals and fraudsters, to create a congenial atmosphere for people to go about their legitimate activities safely and peacefully in the region and beyond.
“The exercise would continue intermittently till the situation is brought under total control,” he said.
