The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command is investigating the mysterious death of a six-year old girl, Ama Dora at Penkwasi, a suburb of Sunyani.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) told the Ghana News in Sunyani that on the morning of Saturday, November 21, he mother of the girl left her among other siblings at home for farm.

ASP Tawiah said the mother returned in the evening but found her missing because a search around the area to locate her was fruitless, and added that a search party organized by the local assemblyman the next morning also proved futile.

He said on Monday, November 23, the Police had information that somebody was buried around the infant Jesus Preparatory School at Penkwase in a pit that had been dug by the school for urinal purposes.

ASP Tawiah said the Police proceeded to the place and saw part of a head buried under the pit, as well as a pick axe and shovel suspected to have been used for that burial.

He said the Police exhumed the body which was identified by the bereaved mother as her daughter.

ASP Tawiah said the body has since been deposited at the Sunyani Regional Hospital mortuary for autopsy, while investigations into the incident were on-going.

He said no arrest has yet been made.
