Two invigilators have been arrested in Bimbilla in the Northern Region for trying to help some of the candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

One of them, a female, was trying to assist a candidate with answers to some of the questions through her mobile phone.

The other invigilator, a master of one of the Junior High Schools in the area, was also caught smuggling foreign materials into the exam hall.

The two invigilators have been taken to the Bimbilla Police Station for questioning as part of investigations.

This year’s BECE began on Monday 5 June, across the country.

A total of 468,053 candidates are taking part in 1,702 examination centres across the nation.

This represents an increase of 7,040 candidates over last year’s number of 461,013.

The examination, which ends on Friday 9 June, is being conducted amidst tight security to prevent examination malpractices.
