Accra, Aug. 21, GNA - The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) on Thursday said the subject results of 570 candidates who wrote April 2008 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been cancelled for various examination malpractices.
It said 28 candidates had their entire results cancelled, according to a statement signed by Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, Senior Public Affairs Officer of WAEC.
The examination irregularities included importation of foreign materials into examination halls, seeking or receiving help from non-candidates such as invigilators, supervisors and teachers. Others were collusion, tearing parts of question papers and answer booklets and impersonation.
WAEC said it had hosted the provisional results of April BECE on the internet.
According to WAEC, candidates' scores have also been forwarded to the Ghana Education Service for the Computerised School Selection and Placement Programme.
