Accra, March 16, GNA - The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is investigating allegations that a company paid by Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) for the supply of crude oil was not the actual supplier of the commodity.
The investigation, which is at the instance of the government, follows the emergence of a business entity that is claiming ownership of the crude supplied to TOR, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ministry of Information signed by a Deputy Minister, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The statement said the government expected the BNI, which had been on the case for a while now, to conclude its investigations "within the shortest possible time".
"Government will act swiftly on the report of the investigations," the statement said.
Three companies are said to be claiming ownership of 600,000 barrels of crude oil worth 48 million dollars supplied to Ghana last year.
