James Kwabena Bomfeh, also called Kabila of the Conventions People's Party (CPP) has asked the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to "police" the Ghana Police Service.

In the wake of the recruitment scandal that has hit the core of the Police Administration in the country, several critics and political figures have made calls on government to set up a bi-partisan Committee to investigate the issue.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", James Kwabena Bomfeh stressed the need for the BNI to rise to the occasion and serve as a major check on the operations of the Ghana Police Service.

According to him, the Police Service deserve to be 'policed' by another security service so as to ensure that they execute their duties effectively and further discard anything that is uncharacteristic of the Police integrity and reputation.

“The police must be policed," he stated.

Touching on the interdiction of the Commissioner of Police Patrick Timbilla in connection with the enlistment scandal, the CPP devotee added his voice to calls for government to set up a Committee to launch investigations but in his view, the Committee should rather be "truly independent professional" Committee to unearth the truth.

He further expressed shock that COP Timbilla's name is linked to the scandal because to him, COP Timbilla could be picked for the position of Inspector General of Police (IGP).

“I was quite shocked that per his status in the Police Administration, he would fall for 3000, 4000, 5000 as bribes to get people” into the Police Service...And he knows too well that should the IGP seat be vacated today, he is a possible nominee. Isn’t he? Commissioner of Police; after the IGP, his office is the next in terms of hierarchy," he said.
