Liam Rosenoir has been sacked as Chelsea coach
Chelsea FC have parted ways with head coach Liam Rosenior after a disastrous run of results brought his brief spell at Stamford Bridge to an abrupt end.
Rosenior’s tenure lasted just 107 days. Appointed in January 2026, on a long-term six-year deal to replace Enzo Maresca, the decision initially raised eyebrows and ultimately failed to deliver results.
A run of seven defeats in eight matches, including five consecutive Premier League losses without scoring, proved decisive. The club now sit seventh, with hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification fading.
The FA Cup semi-final clash with Leeds United at Wembley on Sunday, April 26, 2026, will now be overseen by interim boss Calum McFarlane, who steps in until the end of the season.
Chelsea lose 5 consecutive games for first time in 114 years
In an official statement, the club confirmed the decision:
“Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Liam Rosenior.
On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.
Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season.
This has not been a decision the Club has taken lightly, however, recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season. Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam every success in the future.
Calum McFarlane will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach until the end of the season, as we strive to achieve European qualification and progress in the FA Cup.”
