...Baako To Hand Info To Gov't
The ‘battle between the Editor-in-charge of The Crusading Guide, Kweku Baako, Jnr. And the former First Couple, Jerry John/Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, has been taken to another level.

Baako has decided to consider a suggestion by his lawyers to formally write to the government to take over the investigations into the financial and investment empires of the Rawlingses and company. It has also emerged that some of the initial investigations launched by Baako during his recent investigative trip to abroad have started bearing fruit – some of the payments into the account have been tracked.

In an interview, Baako told “The Daily Dispatch “my lawyers are finalizing the letter and supporting documents to the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.” He continued” “when some of the fellow panel members on last Saturday’s News File programme (on Joy fm) Kwesi Pratt and Jojo Bruce-Quansah, suggested that I should hand over whatever we have to the Attorney General to continue investigations as he, as a government representative, would have better and wider investigative capacities, little did we know that they were only echoing an option my lawyers had already arrived at.”

On calls from certain quarters that he and his newspaper should provide more proof of the alleged Swiss account of Nana Konadu, Baako, who is the Journalist of the Year 2000 laughed and said, “What else do they want me to provide? I have made clear, the name of the bank, the name of the account holder: the number of the account and the balance of money in “the account, this is not the only information available and the others will be handed over to government.”

Baako added, “what the Rawlingses and their supporters are trying to do is to exert pressure on us to hurriedly publish whatever we have. We are sorry we are too experienced for this kind of old trick. We will publish the documents as and when we deem it fit.” Baako also dropped a bombshell, “we have, in course of our recent investigative trip, uncovered further proof of other high value investments in Europe and the United States.”

The Crusading Guide editor denied that his crusade against corruption and human rights abuses was aimed at the Rawlingses. He said “My crusade started even when the Rawlingses were at the peak of their political power”. Baako also expressed his disappointment at the decision of the Rawlingses not to go to the law courts to prove him wrong: “I suspect that their lawyers have weighed the options and decided to spare them the fireworks during cross-examination.

Don’t Jail Rawlings: Let Him Speak The Truth - Kwaku Baako

The Editor-in-Chief of the Crusading Guide News paper, Kwaku Baako Junior has intimated that, jailing former President Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings for atrocities committed under his PNDC/NDC regimes would not be the perfect solution to victims of his regimes.

Kwaku Baako told Peace FM that, he believes making the ex-President tell the truth to Ghanaians would be the best solution towards healing wounds under his regimes. Kweku Baako who was once a close friend to Flt Lt. Jerry Rawlings noted that, he started opposing Mr. Rawlings, when he staged the 31st December coup in 1981. He said, the reason why he opposed the second coming of Rawlings into power was that, “Mr. Rawlings, by the 31st December coup, went against the principle of June 4th Revolution in 1979, which overthrew a military regime and sought to protect constitutional rule in the country”.

Kwaku Baako who calls himself a “June 4th Boy” said Jerry Rawlings took advantage of the war against military regimes in the country, by students and workers at the time which he Baako was a part, and gained popularity through that. He stressed that; Mr. Rawlings “has raped the nation Ghana in terms of political, social, economic and moral basis”.

He noted that Ghana would have held about Eight (8) successful elections, by now, if Flt Lt. Jerry Rawlings had not overthrown the Limann administration in 1981, rather than the two elections that the country currently boasts of.

Mr. Baako however indicated that, he would seek an intermediary, should the ex-President call on him for forgiveness, because he as an individual cannot handle it.
