Baako can’t determine how to appoint EC Boss - Anyidoho

A Deputy-General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Koku Anyidoho, has taken a strong position against the call by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its surrogates on President John Mahama to consult opposition political parties before the appointment of a new Electoral Commission (EC) boss for the country.

Specifically, Koku does not support Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako’s call for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to fall to the bait of the opposition parties.

Speaking exclusively to The Informer, the NDC Deputy Scribe said Kwaku Baako is not the say-so when it comes to the appointment of the new EC boss.

“I disagree with Kwaku Baako because, it is clear that he wants his NPP to impose its choice on the nation,” Koku told this Paper.

Where was Kwaku Baako when John Kufuor packed the Supreme Court with party-judges just to jail Tsatsu Tsikata? Did Kwaku Baako not support that monstrous move by Kufuor? Since when did he have a change of mind that Presidents must sidestep the constitution and pick the mind of the Opposition Parties?” the NDC Deputy Scribe posited.

Mr. Koku Anyidoho was reacting to Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako’s comments on Peace FM’s Morning Show, two days ago, where the Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide called on the President to consult the Opposition Parties in the appointment of the person who will replace Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, as EC boss.

“If Akufo-Addo or John Kufuor were President, would Baako have made the same point?” Koku queried, and called on Ghanaians to ignore him.

“Kwaku Baako hates Rawlings and the NDC and must not be allowed to think that he has what it takes to influence decisions of President Mahama,” Koku Anyidoho added.

Funnily enough, as the debate for who succeeds Dr. Afari-Gyan continues, theNPP dye-in-the-wool Amoako Baah, who has expressed interest in the job, claimed he will do better when given the opportunity.

As someone who comes into view so incongruous and confused, the Political Science Lecturer would want Ghanaians to believe that he has the magic wand to reform the EC; claiming to be innovative.

In a complete joke, he is quoted to have said “I think I can do a very good job, as a matter of fact, I have no doubt I can do much better. If I’m called to do it, I will do it and I will bring innovation”.
