Baba Jamal is NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East
National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate and former High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, has officially filed his nomination at the Electoral Commission (EC) to contest the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election.
This move comes after the party’s National Functional Executive Committee cleared him to participate in the by-election.
Majority calls for annulment of Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries
Baba Jamal emerged victorious in the NDC primaries, which were closely contested amid allegations of vote-buying and inducement.
In response, the NDC established a committee to investigate these claims.
According to the party, the committee reviewed complaints from delegates and party members, assessed available evidence, and engaged relevant stakeholders before reaching its findings.
While acknowledging broader concerns about inducement in party primaries, the committee found no grounds to disqualify Baba Jamal from contesting the by-election.
Baba Jamal has consistently denied the allegations, maintaining that his campaign adhered fully to the party’s rules and guidelines.
