The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has successfully vetted at least three flagbearer aspirants on the opening of vetting on Tuesday.

Alban Sumana Kinsford Bagbin, Ghana’s longest-serving lawmaker, was the first to be vetted on Tuesday.

The party had revised its timetable for the election of a presidential candidate for the 2020 elections, having been hit by a legal suit.

The last agreed date of January 26, 2019 has been rescheduled to February 23, 2019.

Therefore, the vetting was also rescheduled to Tuesday, January 22.

As per the new timetable, the results of the vetting will be made available same day to pave way for balloting and appeals the following day, Wednesday, January 23.

Professor Joshua Alabi was the second to be vetted on Tuesday.

He was followed by favourite and former president John Dramani Mahama, whose vetting was done within half-an-hour, according to reports.

Nurudeen Iddrisu followed the two-time flagbearer of the NDC.

So far, seven party members have filed nominations to contest the presidential primary.
