A group calling itself Alliance for Change in the Upper West Region has been exposed for allegedly peddling falsehood about the Member for Nadowli West, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to the effect that, he has presided over non development of his constituency.
Reliable sources have alleged that, one of the chiefs of Sankama, is the brain behind the move to whip up negative sentiments against the Nadowli West MP, who doubles as the Minister of Health, with the purpose of tarnishing his hard won reputation.
Indications from the constituency point to the fact that, the allegation is a blatant falsehood being paraded by some people who wish to manipulate the coming elections to overthrow the Member of Parliament in order to perpetrate their own selfish interests.
According to some community members, much has been done by the MP, in terms of electricity supply to the communities, supply of potable water to the main towns and has constructed over 32 boreholes in the smaller villages to serve as sources of drinking water.
They told The New Independent that, the health minister has also upgraded a health facility from a clinic to a major hospital, which now serves both the Nadowli East surrounding communities, reducing the inconvenience of having to transport sick constituents to the regional capital for treatment.
In the education sector, aside government's assistance to the constituency, though the MP's personal support, students in the constituency can now further their education in various training colleges.
Under the auspices of the MP for Nandowli West, over 200 individuals have been supported to the tertiary institutions to improve their education in the Upper West.
Currently, The New Independent has learnt, a 12 classroom block is being built for the Kaleo Secondary Technical School at Kaleo, one of the towns in the constituency, as well as a library for the school through his personal efforts as the MP for Nandowli West.
Out of his share of the MP's common fund, blocks have been built to ensure access to quality education in Sombo, Bankaw and other villages.
In the face of these evidences, the paper gathered that, the group has now decided to shift the goal posts from a claim of incompetence on the part of the MP to another chorus that, the MP has been in Parliament for far too long.
