A Communications Team member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kakra Essamuah, has posited that notwithstanding the brouhaha surrounding aggrieved Alban Bagbin’s remarks, he is pleased with the party’s call for a ceasefire and the decision to handle the issue internally.

According to him, the NDC understands democracy and does not restrain its party members from voicing out their grievances when necessary.

He, however, stated that the former Minority cum Majority Leader’s recent utterances directed at the presidency were unfortunate. To him, such conduct will not have been tolerated in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and could likely result in Bagbin being expelled.

Hon. Alban Bagbin stirred the hornets' nest with his criticism of the government and the president, whom he accused of showing little commitment in the fight against corruption. According to him, President Mahama has become inaccessible to be advised in private and has therefore chosen to do so in public.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Kakra Essamuah said “I am very happy to be a member of the NDC, because the approach Alban Bagbin took, if he was to be Wereko-Brobbey in the NPP, he would have been suspended for two years”.

“This is a party in government that believes that people who have opinions can express them. My only problem is that he (Alban Bagbin) should have tried harder to see the president because I don’t know how difficult it is to see the president. Even me (Kakra Essamuah) if I want to see the president, it’s very easy for me.”
