An Operations Manager of a reputable bank located at Kwabenya in Accra, together with another, have been arrested by the Accra Regional Police Command for alleged robbery.

Samuel Larkotey Lartey 36, banker by profession and Kwaku Boateng, a 45-year-old trader, were arrested for allegedly robbing the bank of an amount of GH¢ 111,300 in March this year.

The two are in custody assisting in police investigations.

Confirming the story to the media, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Accra Regional Police Commander, recounted that the incident occurred on March 3, 2014 at about 12:00 am.

Samuel Larkotey Lartey, the keeper of the bank’s vault keys, together with Kwaku Boateng purportedly opened the main door of the bank to gain ingress into the banking hall to steal the money.

During police investigations, it was discovered that Samuel Larkotey Lartey could not account for a huge sum of money he had allegedly pilfered from the bank.

Police investigations are still ongoing to bring other accomplices, who are said to have taken cover, to book.

The Regional Commander hinted that his outfit had observed that most commercial and residential robberies were planned with the help of insiders who usually leaked information on the financial positions and transactions of their respective companies
