The Bank of Ghana constituted a two-member committee to investigate the suspected mbezzlement and later forwarded the case to the Attorney General's (AGs) Department for prosecution.

The accused allegedly siphoned the amounts between January 1997 and August 2002 through the debiting of customers' accounts without its corresponding entries, gave out fictitious loans, operated "forex bureaux" and granted special loans whose interest's rates were lower than that of the bank.

At today's appearance, the AGs office asked the court to adjourn the case because Mr. William Akuffo, a state attorney, was indisposed.
