An Accra Circuit Court on Monday remanded one Florence Seglah, a drinking bar operator, for possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge but was remanded by the court, presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh, to reappear on June 17.

The prosecutor, Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu, told the court that the suspect lived at Tetegu and operated a drinking bar in her house.

He said on June 1, the Weija Divisional Police Command conducted an operation at Tetegu to clamp down on criminal activities and in the process arrested Florence in her house.

Chief Inspector Adu said a search was conducted in her room and the police retrieved seven bottles of a liquid substance suspected to be prepared with Indian hemp.

He told the court that in Florence’s caution statement to the police, she admitted ownership of the seven bottles of liquid substance and also admitted the offence.

He said the exhibits were yet to be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory of the Ghana Police Service for examination.
