Barber remanded in prison for alleged murder

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) Dec. 2, GNA - A Dormaa-Ahenkro Circuit court has remanded a 19 year old barber in prison custody for allegedly stabbing a friend to death. Frederick Kwadwo Yeboah, from Dormaa-Akwamu would re-appear on December 19.

Police Chief Inspector A. A. Duodoo, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr. Justice Vincent Carl Senu that the deceased Osei Gyamfi was a vulcanizer at Dormaa-Ahenkro. He said sometime this year, the deceased was helping his family members to erect canopies at Dormaa-Akwamu for the funeral a deceased uncle, the accused joined them to erect the canopies but in the process started making deafening noise to disturb them. The prosecutor said the accused was therefore, asked to leave the scene but he refused and this led to an argument between the accused and the deceased.

Police Chief Inspector Duodoo said during the argument, the accused drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed the deceased three times in the stomach.

He said the deceased died while being conveyed to the Presbyterian hospital at Dormaa Ahenkro and the accused went into hiding. The prosecutor said the accused was later spotted by some relatives of the deceased on a vehicle at the Asafo Market in Kumasi they raised the alarm and had him arrested and sent to the Police. He said the accused was sent to Dormaa Ahenkro and after investigations charged with the offence. Meanwhile the corpse has been deposited at the Presbyterian Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
