Ghana Women's national team coach Bashir Hayford says he is impressed with the Black Queens preparations ahead of the 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations to be staged in the country.

After earlier uncertainties surrounding their schedule, the team kicked off fine-tuning in Kumasi last week and are currently in Brong Ahafo region as part of a nationwide tour.

They defeated Ampen Darkoah Ladies 3-1 in a friendly game on Tuesday.

“I am happy with the players and impressed with their performance so far in the preparations for the tournament," Hayford told Ashh FM.

"We spent some time in Ashanti region and now in Brong Ahafo but I think we need to economise their strength and energies. We have a bigger task ahead of us so it is important to reserve some energy that’s why I have two squads.

"One set plays first half of the game and the other set replace them for the other half to avoid injuries,” he added.

The tournament will hold between November 17 and December 1.
