The Sunyani Circuit Court A, presided over by Mr Ekow Mensah, on Thursday adjourned to May 29, 2014 for the continuation of the matter in which the Principal of the Tepa Health Assistant Training School, Victoria Amoah, and Rexy Lovell Mensah are standing trial for falsifying documents in relation to ownership of Ideas University College, established by Madam Comfort Adampah, an accomplished business woman.

Victoria Amoah, a former lecturer at the Berekum Nursing Training College and Rexy Lovell Mensah are claiming that madam Adampah had resigned her position as director of the University College and subsequently gave direction to change names of the directors of the University at the Register General Department.

Rexy Lovell Mensah and Victoria Amoah and one Kofi Makai now claim they are the new Directors of IDEAS University College.

Madam Adampah has denied all claims by the accused persons. In the witness box, was Chief Inspector Adu Ofori, formerly of the CID headquarters, now with the Weija District.

In his four hour submission, which brought to the fore his tactfulness as an astute investigator, Chief Inspector Ofori told the court that his investigation showed that both Rexy Lovell Mensah and Victoria Amoah altered documents in relation to the ownership of the university and that forensic report indicated that documents found on Rexy Mensah when he was arrested, were similar to those that had been changed allegedly under the instruction of Madam Adampah.

Chief Inspector Ofori also gave evidence that in a Deed, both the accused persons had transferred Madam Adampah’s share to themselves and one Kofi Makai while in another Deed, Victoria Amoah had transferred her shares to Lovell Mensah.

The prosecutor continued that checks at the Berekum Emmanuel Presby Church revealed that Victoria Amaoh, has never been known as Victoria Lydia Amaoh, as she claims now, but recently as part of moves to claim ownership of Ideas University College, she altered her name Victoria Amoah to Victoria Lydia because one of the original directors of the university at the Register Generals Department is Lydia Amoah.

Chief Inspector Ofori further told the court that the chronicle of the church from 1951 to 199, showed that Victoria Amaoh was baptized as Victoria Sangmuah Amoah.

A new baptismal certificate bearing the name Victoria Lydia Amoah was therefore forged. The prosecutor told the court that in the records of the church, Rev Henry B.A. Osei was the minister in charge at the time Victoria Amoah was baptised. As the minister in charge, he signed and issued the baptismal certificate.

But the new baptismal certificate for Victoria Amoah bears the name of a certain Rev Henry D.A. Osei while the two signatures on the two certificates did not match. The name REV D.A. Osei did not appear in the records of the church.

Obviously, the introduction of the name Lydia to Victoria Amoah’s name was an after though since the name Lydia Amoah is captured as one of the directors of the university.

Present at the court were officials from the Berekum Presby Church
